The Louisiana Lions Camp and the American Diabetes Association have worked together for over 25 years to provide summer camp fun and education to Louisiana’s youth with Diabetes

Two one-week sessions are provided for Type 1 (Insulin Dependant) and Type II (non-Insulin dependant) Youth of Louisiana between the ages of 6 and 14 years.

Here’s how it works...

  • The Lions of Louisiana provide their facility, 2 one-week sessions, program staff and Lion Sponsorship of the campers
  • The American Diabetes Association provides a medical, dietary and nursing staff as well as handles campers recruitment and assignment and supplies
  • Approximately 200 campers attend the two weeks.
  • Big days are planned around blood testing and education schedules
  • Medical, Dietary, and Nursing staff consist of Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Physicians Assistants, Registered Dietitians, Student Dietitans, Student Nurses, and Medical Students.
